Where Do Good Ideas Come From?

More icon arrow down green color

Here at The Creative Copywriter we reckon we can come up with a decent idea once in a while.

We’d even go so far as to say that we’re pretty darn creative people (hence the company name).

But despite my creative noggin, and the philosophy degree I took wayback at uni, I never once sat down and actually wondered ‘where do good ideas come from?’.

Until I saw this video.

Steven has some interesting ideas and makes a lot of good points in his video. Often times the best ideas come out of nowhere and you need to be ready when it happens so you don’t lose it or try to remember it later and end up over thinking it to death.

Always good to have a little notebook with you, I find. In case those really great ideas pop up at random times – which they often do!
Thanks for your comment Jon. Keep ’em coming!

If only there was this vast resource center where we could go and have the good ideas present themselves to us right away. Instead, we are relegated to having them pop up in our heads whenever they choose and hopefully we have a notebook handy so we can write it down for later use. I am writing my very first novel and I get the most random, yet still incredible, ideas come to me out of nowhere and I need to write them down right away or they are gone forever.

That’s great. I’ve always wanted to write a novel – and it’s still on my ’10 things to do before I die’ list. It’s a great idea to either have a notebook with you or an app like Evernote where you can quickly jot down any ideas that spring to mind at any time of the day. Otherwise they got lost in a sea of thought!

I always thought that the good idea fairies left ideas in the night while we sleep. Actually, the methodology of that is true; when we don’t get enough sleep, we lack the brain power to come up with ideas and when we finally get a good night’s rest, our brain is refreshed and the ideas come back.
